I don't know if other authors obsess nearly as much as I do but I'll admit to being an absolute train wreck the day of our first-ever book signing. I was scatterbrained, impulsive, irritable and manic (not necessarily in that order). Why? Any number of reasons, really. Maybe no one would show, maybe the software program I'd created with our web designer (that allowed people to determine their valuation in an incorporated world) would crash, maybe, maybe, maybe. It got so bad my brother had force a glass of Pinot Noir down my throat just to take the edge off. It worked (it helped that my stomach was empty). We arrived at The Mysterious Galaxy Book Store in San Diego about 15 minutes before start time and were greeted to a display of our book spanning the entire width of their front window.

Good news! Paul Goat Allen, reviewer of mysteries and thrillers for BarnesandNoble.com, BookPage magazine and Publishers Weekly has chosen The Unincorporated Man as his "sleeper" pick for the month of April. In his words, "Two debut authors (brothers) and a novel that has been already been compared to Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress and called a genre classic."

Somewhere a digital bottle of champagne needs to be smashed against a virtual hull. March 31st, 2009, The official release date of The Unincorporated Man and the day Eytan and I have been waiting for (nay, dreaming about) for years has finally arrived.

I have smelled the book and it is good.

I've joked about it for some time but that didn't rob it of its glory. My book, The Unincorporated Man finally arrived at my doorstep yesterday afternoon (and I wasn't home to get it!). I strolled in around 2 a.m. and saw the puffy yellow envelope on the kitchen table and knew immediately what it was. About 2 seconds later the book was in my hands and I swear to God the first thing I did was open it up and smell it...deeply. I'm talking 80's nightclub and glass table type inhalation.

Mmmmm....I love the smell of fresh pixels in the morning.
